About Me
Please read this page. I realize It's quite lengthy, but I'm just so dang interesting ;-) and I'm still leaving so many intriguing details out. This "About Me" is different my Facebook, MySpace, and Flickr profiles. Kick back, relax, and enjoy...

The name is Tyler Johnson, but I go by TylerJ. I'm 18 as of Dec. 25; Graduated from Priceville High School in 2008, where I was an editor of the yearbook for the past three years. I started Calhoun the following summer.
I find beauty and elegance in simplicity. It's the little things that matter the most to me. I love the commercial for a bank where one act of kindness towards another person can have a snowball effect. The first one I saw was a lady waiting to cross the road stopped another person not paying attention to where he was walking. When he looked up angrily at her, a car drove by - which would have hit him if she hadn't caught him. To me, nothing is as it seems... but everything happens for a reason.
I do not judge anyone. I have more faults than I let show. I do not care what most people think about me, or might say about me to others; however, there are a few exceptions like in every other rule. True, some things can hurt my feelings, but there again, I do not let it show. It is a foolproof way of not letting it get to you. I live by the Golden Rule: "Do unto others as you'd have them do unto you." as well as what Abraham Lincoln said, "When I do good, I feel good; when I do bad, I feel bad, and that is my religion."
Pyschology is extremely interesting to me. I love finding solutions as to why I am the way I am and why I act the way I do. It has explained much about me that I've always wondered about. Take a look at this website, www.SimilarMinds.com, for free online quizes about your personality and such. I find it very accurate most of the time. My Jung-Myers Briggs Typology is "ISFJ" which stands for Introversion, Sensing, Feeling, & Judging. The last isn't what you think, visit this website to read more about the ISFJ personality type.
Photography will always be my main hobby. I carry a Nikon D80 (Digital, 10.2MP) body with three lenses: Nikon Nikkor Super Wide Angle 18-55mm, Nikon 18-135mm, & Tamron 70-300mm Telephoto zoom. I have a Nikon SB-600 Flash and vertical battery grip similar to the MB-80. Bogen / Manfrotto 679B Monopod with ball head & quick release and a cheap tripod from Walmart that gets the job done. I cram all this gear into my LowePro 200 Slingshot pack. I also have a very nice and much larger Canon bag that I'm thinking about selling.
I'd absolutely love to get into studio photography; however, money is a small issue. I converted my sister's room into a make-shift studio for now. I have two dual halogen light kits (500w, 100w, or 1500w settings) on stands, one small umbrella and backdrop at the moment. Currently I'm experimenting with HDR images and shooting in all RAW format for supreme quality and maximum software manipulation.
Throughout high school, everyone asked me how I knew so much about computers and such. I would always be out of classes fixing them for teachers (although that puts me on everyone's good side, I lose class time and became known as "the computer guy"). To be honest, my family got our first computer for Christmas when Windows 95 just released. At the time, I've never seen a computer and didn't know what a keyboard was. I remember playing Galaxian and PacMan on it all day. From there, we upgraded (or should I say downgraded) to a Gateway WindowsME... the most appalling OS ever released. Everyday, mother would ask what I did to the computer because a new error popped up. At the time, we were sucked into AOL's monopoly, but I just searched each error message, reading forums of other users with similar problems. That feeling that "Wow, I fixed my computer!" stuck with me. I got interested in downloading music and just continued to grow as newer technology developed.
I can also custom build you a machine to suit your needs and price range. By building a computer, I'm able to find better components with greater speed than you could "customize" from Dell or Gateway, all at a much better price. Free estimates. Or If you're having problems with your computer, please contact me about your issues and I will be glad to help.
I built my first PC at the age of 14 (2001) with much help from my friend Patrick Haley (RIP 12/18/2005) for picking out the hardware. I had already replaced each part before at school, so I knew how... just not exactly what to get or what would be compatible. It cost $1,100 from my own savings account, but it was such a great investment because it lasted until January of 2008 when finally the CPU overheated and fried during the night (I ran this machine 24/7, mind you).
Now I'm running two custom built PCs and one laptop (*cough* all with pirated software), and yes... I do use ALL three at the same time! "Multitasking" is my middle name.

My very first web page was hosted on AOL Hometown (20MB free storage at the time), as I spent four continuous days with very little sleep reading a beginner HTML book from Calhoun while coding it in Notepad. I spent all Christmas break tweaking little things until I thought it was perfect. (Hmm... seems to still be the same way. I'll spend hours working on my website(s) without any idea of the time.) "Pleasure in the job puts perfection in the work." - Aristotle
Since then, I've continued to play around occasionally and teach myself more and more about HTML until where I am now, using CSS with HTML. Today, I'm using Adobe's Dreamweaver CS3; however, I still code as much as I do design mode. I'm constantly learning. "The only good is knowledge and the only evil is ignorance." - Socrates.
If you or someone you know are interested in having a website made, please ask for a free estimate.
I'm always eager to learn more about topics that interest me, for the rest... I feel like I'm wasting time. My high school courses came easy to me. I often think how lucky I've been... about everything in my life. I was raised in the Church of Christ beliefs, and was baptized into Christ on December 4th, 2004. It is one of the few things I can remember extremely vividly as I felt the entire world's pressure be lifted off my shoulders. It was absolutely the best feeling in my entire life; however, I sometimes feel far away from God. I believe there must be a living God, surely there is no possible way everything we know about life is simply a coincidence as we supposedly evolved from a lower being. I find that very hard to believe; but I can also see a step into the scientific realm of things. I usually always see two sides of the same story. I've been the peacemaker between friends as I get them to compromise fairly.
I love to try new things all the time (food, music, movies, etc). Music is very important to me. I will listen to almost any genre, excluding 95% of all country/bluegrass. I love Bon Jovi, James Blunt, Elton John, Jack Johnson, 30 Seconds to Mars, Jimmy Eat World, The Postal Service, and many new hip-hop artists. I sing along all the time, even remembering my old Brittney Spears lyrics. I love to sing at worship services as well. To me, the best songs are the ones with meaningful lyrics instead of a catchy tune. I express my emotions through lyrics. I also pick up my electric guitar at times to play around. I've tried teaching myself that as well, but it doesn't stick as easily. I have an Ibanez RG320 and Line6 Spider II (75w) amplifier that I'm looking to sell.
If you have any questions, whatsoever, please contact me! I'd love to hear your input. :-)
